- The electricity company acquires the 80% stake it did not control in the company specializing in energy efficiency and decarbonization.
- Balantia and Iberdrola launch NZE Manager platform to boost companies’ emissions reductions
Iberdrola acquires the 80% it did not control of Balantia, a company created in 2011 to develop energy efficiency and sustainability in companies, and to enable their decarbonization and reduce their emissions and costs.
Iberdrola, which entered the firm’s capital in 2019 through its start-up program, Perseo, has over the past four years put Balantia’s technological capabilities to good use in more than 180,000 homes and companies, to which it has provided energy diagnostics and information to make decisions in this area.
The company, based in Spain but also developing projects in different European countries, was recently selected by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the VII Edition of the SME of the Year Award 2023 as one of the best 15 companies among the more than 1,750 submitted.
Growth for decarbonization
As a result of this union, both companies will launch the Net Zero Emissions Manager (NZE Manager) platform, which will design roadmaps for companies on their way to decarbonization.
The platform aims to reach a customer base of more than 20,000 companies during the current financial year, aspiring to become the most widely used tool in Europe in terms of number of users and volume of actions aimed at decarbonization.
With NZE Manager, companies will be able to efficiently manage energy and CO2 emissions, so that they can design a personalized plan to reduce polluting gases with a horizon to achieve it between 2030 and 2050.
The tool builds decarbonization plans focused on achieving emission reductions and associated economic savings. In addition, it calculates the CO2 footprint, indicates the most impactful actions to reduce it, creates dashboards with a special focus on regulatory compliance, dynamically monitors the achievement of targets and manages data from equipment inventories, invoices and asset profiles.
NZE Manager is also supported by a dedicated team to provide advice. Thus, they help to identify the most suitable solutions for energy efficiency and decarbonization for your activity, develop projects to implement the measures detected, generate state and/or regional deliverables to comply with CO2 footprint regulations in their different scopes, prepare energy certificates, technical due diligences, make records for the different administrations and manage grants, public incentives or Energy Saving Certificates (CAEs).
The platform is aimed at all companies with decarbonization needs, both large companies -which are obliged and committed to have an emissions reduction plan, measure and report it, and support their entire value chain to do so-, as well as smaller companies.
